Edge Electric, of Pewaukee, and A&J Electrical Contractors, based in Waukesha, announced Monday that they had merged and would operate as Edge Electric.

The merger, which closed on Friday, will bring Edge’s expertise in commercial work with A&J’s focus on residential projects, according to a press release, and allow the company to provide a wider range. Services. The combined company will employ more than 70 workers and will continue to operate from Edge’s office in Pewaukee. Terms of the contract are not disclosed.

Edge Electric was founded in 2011 to serve Southeastern Wisconsin. Although its electricians perform a range of jobs, the company specializes in commercial projects.

A&J Electrical Contractors, on the other hand, was founded in 1984 and has extensive expertise in single-family and multi-family projects. Its current president, Jay Humbert, bought the company in 2015. Humbert will remain vice president of the combined company.
